The Cedar School is proud to announce the hiring of Sarah Neufeld as Director of Admissions beginning in June, 2021. Sarah joins The Cedar School with nearly a decade of experience instructing students with language-based learning differences. Prior to joining Cedar, Sarah was a learning specialist at Bank Street School for Children and began her career as a classroom educator at Stephen Gaynor School, an independent special education school in Manhattan. "Sarah is remarkable," says founding head of school Clay Kaufman. "She has extensive experience and truly understands our students and families, and is an outstanding communicator and team player."
Sarah holds a dual Master’s Degree of Science in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. She completed her undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Science, graduating with Highest Honors and Distinction for her thesis research on evaluating behavioral and genetic markers of reading ability.
Sarah is Orton-Gillingham certified and has received formal training in Wilson Foundations, Stern Structural Arithmetic, Singapore Math, Judith Hochman’s Teaching Basic Writing Skills, Universal Design for Learning, and Yale University’s RULER Program.
"I'm thrilled to join The Cedar School," said Sarah. "I am passionate about helping students and families on their education journey." Currently, she resides in Connecticut with her husband and twin boys.
