The science program at The Cedar School will be hands-on, multisensory and inquiry-based. Core courses will include Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as electives, such as Robotics and Engineering, which address the interests of many students with language-based learning differences.
Courses are designed to give students a fundamental understanding of key concepts in scientific knowledge, while emphasizing the scientific method: hypothesis, experimentation, analysis of data and conclusions. Students will develop lab skills as well as critical thinking skills, and will connect topics in science to real-life experiences. Technology will be incorporated as appropriate, and students will learn to read, write and speak about science, while pursuing areas of their greatest interest.
